Meet Our Staff
Our Pastor
Ken Clayton was born in
Rockwood,
TN, and he and his wife Joy have two children, Kenny and Jill, and four grandchildren. Jill and Scott Dender have Grace, Joshua, Caleb, and Elijah. Kenny and Sarah and the Denders live in Hermitage, TN. Pastor Clayton graduated from
Carson-Newman
College and Southern Seminary. Ken and Joy have served as SBC Missionaries to
Spain and gone on many mission trips both foreign and domestic. They have been married for over 45 years and spent their lives together in ministry. In 2007, Pastor Clayton retired after nearly 25 years as Senior Pastor of
Tulip
Grove
Baptist
Church in
Nashville,
TN.

Our Music Minister - Michael Wood
Michael Wood has been the Minister of Music at Pine Eden since May of 2003. He and his wife Debbie have been active in the music ministry since their college days at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville. Michael and Debbie have two wonderful daughters, Rachel and Elizabeth.
Our Secretary - Bessie Smith
Bessie Smith has been secretary at Pine Eden Baptist Church since January 1999. She spent over 30 years in Federal Government Service in Utah, Arizona, Washington, D.C. She retired from government service January 1, 1995 and moved to Crossville, TN. Bessie has been married to Ray Smith since August 10, 1958. They have one son, Terry, residing in Roosevelt, Utah.
Our Youth Pastor -
Nathan Smith was born and raised in Crossville where he attended school and worshiped. In 2005 Nathan graduated from
Tennessee
Tech
University and was ordained into the ministry in 2008. He currently lives in Crossville with his wife Carrie and their son Peyton. Nathan accepted Christ in 1995 and answered the call to ministry in 2001, he has had a passion for youth ministry and is excited about having the opportunity to serve at Pine Eden. Nathan’s personal code to live by is “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5
